One of the curses of being a designer who writes fiction as well the other stuff is sometimes feeling compelled to turn word pictures into real pictures. Case in point, Bittah Blue.

This magnificent specialty ale was born in a story I wrote for my son, Steve. Steve is an award-winning brewer and this outrageous story was about brewing and absinthe and true love...the usual stuff. I got so sucked into the tale that I had to design this label.

Subsequent to the story, Steve crafted a magnificent ale along the lines of the brew described in the story. Every bit as striking to the taste buds as the label is to the eyes. Naturally, he named it Bittah Blue.

Wouldn't you love a frosty, cobalt blue mug of Bittah Blue about now? Wouldn't you love to be cooling your heels on Orcas Island about now? Maybe even at Trio, that most excellent imaginary brewpub in Eastsound with the trompe l’oeil wall depicting the so-realistic-you-want-to-walk-into-it interior of a fanciful medieval brewery, complete with assorted gargoyles?
